SOME THOUGHTS ON GREENER GIFTING
As the season of giving rolls around, we thought we'd share some thought on how to lighten the planetary burden of this capitalist extravaganza! Jk, jk, we are not complete Scrooges, but we can all try to be mindful about not adding to the holiday heap. It is very easy to get caught up in the buzz and end up giving stuff that's more about the gesture than the usefulness.
Here are some fun, simple ways to dodge the holiday excess and still spread heaps of cheer!
Second-Hand Gifts
Going vintage is super chic and it's the best way to guarantee you're giving someone a one-of-a-kind gift. why not thrift something really thoughtful? Just give it a good wash first...
Set a Limit
Without a budget, holiday spending can become excessive and thoughtless. Setting a budget, alone or with a partner, promotes buying fewer, more meaningful items instead of unnecessary ones.
No-Plastic Pact
Challenge your friend-group, family or partner to not purchase plastic gifts. THis will spice-up shopping and makeunwrapping extra delightful.
Donate in lieu of Gifts
We all shop for people who have everything. They don't need more things. Instead, make a donation in their name to an organization they are passionate about. It's thoughtful, compassionate, and eco-friendly.
These are just a few ideas on how to gift more earth-friendly. One thing that we didn't really touch on though, was the open and honest conversations you can have with you loved ones NOW to set exceptions about what is being given and received. This doesn't have to be awkward, even if it seems like it might be. We know you can do it!
And, of course, if you are looking for perfect eco-friendly gifts, Rosemary's has you covered <3 <3
